10 years ago today I married my Mr B in the beautiful Selfridges store.
Winter of Love was the theme for Christmas so Selfridges decided to obtain a wedding license and hold the first (and I hope!) last wedding in a major department store to celebrate.
After submitting details of how I met Mr B and why we wanted to get married at Selfridges. A nervous 2 week wait ensued while we waited to see if we’d made it through.
Luckily for us we were summoned in to meet the team for an interview which lasted for about 2 hours, this was on the Friday and we were told we would hear one way or the other on the following Monday.
Then on the Monday 25th November 2002, at roughly 11am the team phoned to say if we wanted to get married, we could!!
The madness then started, planning a weeding in 3 weeks is slightly crazy but possible if you have the amazing Selfridges marketing team behind you.
Selfridges paid for just about everything, we met with our wedding planner Tom several times a week, the only thing I didn’t get to choose was the cake which was already made, not a fan of traditional fruit cake, however it did look beautiful. The reception, in what was the premier resturant on the 3rd floor turned into a very merry afternoon with a mad afterparty back at My Hotel in Bloomsbury.
It was the most mad 3 weeks of my life and the best wedding I have ever been too – I would so love to do it all again!!! So after 10 years we are jetting of to NYC to celebrate – but big thanks to Selfridges for such an amazing day that will never be forgotten!
