It’s been an odd few weeks and its been a bit quiet on here as I haven’t really felt in the mood for writing about anything.
Last week was Grandma Bs funeral; Grandma B was Mr Bs grandma but I had the privilege of calling her Grandma for the past 15 years. This may seem like an odd post to write but I literally had nothing to wear! I have one black dress that’s a skater style where it flares out from Jaeger Boutique but nothing else dark or smart enough to wear!
The thing is until a few years ago I stayed away from very dark colours due to my little furry friend Rosie, who was a choc-tortipoint Persian cat and whose fur tended to hunt out dark clothes; I still find the odd white piece of her fur 4 years on as a little reminder to make me smile.
I did the usual searching through the High Street stores for something, Reiss, Whistles, Hobbs etc but there was nothing dark as everywhere is full of spring colours and the dark dresses they had were more suitable for a party and most were sleeveless. I did find a nice black and white dress on Matches from Marc by Marc Jacobs that was OK but not really rocking my boat so I thought If anyone is going to have something I liked it had to be Black White Denim. I dropped Jordan an email and he sent me a couple of pictures of dresses but then he remembered a SS12 Victoria by Victoria Beckham dress and got Rebecca to send me over a few pictures – it was perfect, and at half price as well!
The weather is still freezing so I was so pleased this was a long sleeved dress. The dress is 100% silk with a drop waist, tired silk skirt with a cream heart shape detail around the neckline with cream sleeves trimmed with black cuffs. The dress has an exposed zip detail down the back, detail in Victorias dresses that I just love. The dress teamed with black opaque tights and plain black heels was just perfect, several people remarked what a lovely dress it was and I’m sure my Grandma B would have been proud.
PS. Massive thanks to Jo for making sure the dress arrived in time.
