Last summer Mel from Woodie and Morris invited me to the opening of their second store in Cranleigh, Surrey and I was immediately drawn to a little olive jersey dress with pocket detailing and a silky hem. This little dress became my favourite summer holiday dress, perfect to chuck on when going to the beach or to dress up with heels and lots of bracelets in the evening. This dress was by a brand I had never heard of before – Skandal.
Skandal is a family run business headed up by Matilde Costa based in Barcelona and has been going for 20 years. Each collection is designed and made in Spain with short runs of each piece so once it’s gone that’s it! Now you probably haven’t heard of this brand as Woodie & Morris is the ONLY stockist in the UK and for the first time the brand is now available to buy online and if you order before 2pm Monday – Thursday next day delivery is free!
I have been waiting for this brand to come in this year for so long so when Mel gave me a shout and asked if I would blog about Skandal I jumped at the chance. This little collection just screams sunshine and holidays! It’s a small collection of tees, vest tops, dresses, scarfs and bags all in lovely colours – olive, off-white, coral and a blueish grey, there’s even a bit of dip-dye. What I love about the clothes is that they have a worn, washed almost vintage feel to them and a fabulous price point! Pieces start from £20 so my bank manager doesn’t start to cry when I start browsing.
First up are these cool little vest tops with a dip-dye finish around the bottom. These tops are very true to size, I’m a size 10 and am wearing a small in these pictures. I’d probably prefer to wear this top a bit looser but it would depend on the outfit I think. The front of this top is super lightweight linen, it is quite see-though and as it was chilly when I did the pictures (and raining!) I did wear a nude camisole underneath.
The back is a super-soft cotton and I really like the two different textures. On the front are two little pockets which add a nice bit of detail. I used the contrasting dip-dye scarf with this top which is also part of the summer collection – I think we will all need scarves if this weather keeps up!
The rain just wouldn’t hold off so I didn’t get as many pictures of the khaki version but the detail is exactly as the coral top pictured above. This top also comes in a blue-ish grey colour.
Now also I just had to have a bit of Vine fun with these two tops! What do you think, let me know, should I make more Vine videos?
More Skandal coming up, this time dresses!
