I love bringing my readers new places to shop and brands and in todays post you get both!!  On Friday last week a new independent online shopping destination opened its virtual doors for us to shop – FORMULA.  London based FORMULA stocks an edit of womens fashion and lifestyle brands focusing on European designers like Mother Denim, Essentiel, WON HUNDRED and See by Chloe, which you will all love; it’s great to bag an item you know you won’t find everywhere!! FORUMLA is all about bridging that gap between the real high end designer pieces and high end High St with a hand-picked edit of pieces that will slot into your existing wardrobe and be worn season after season.

Christina from FORMULA sent me a beautiful top from Antwerp based Essentiel to try on and style.  You don’t automatically associate Belgium with fashion; I only really think of chocolate  when I think of Belgium (Mr B is saying beer, Tin Tin and Jean Claude-Van Damme) but this brand has actually been going since 1999!  Run by couple Esfan Eghtessadi and Inge Onsea the brand quickly grew from being sold in their apartment to them opening their first store producing clothes with beautiful cool prints, like the one I was sent to review.

I was sent the Essentiel Guinea Pig patterned top (there are no guinea pigs though!) in pink with a contrasting, almost camo print around the collar. With cap sleeves, a chest pocket, black tie back and small slit at the back in the middle this top can easily be worn dressed up or down.  It’s 100% polyester yet it doesn’t feel it, I thought it was a silk mix, but being polyester it’s machine washable which is always a bonus!!

As I said it can be worn dressed up or down I have worn it three different ways, mixing it with some really old items from my wardrobe to bring them up to the here and now as well as wearing it with a few new-ish purchases.

I’m loving the ‘Sports Luxe‘ trend it’s just a look that is just standard SJ and what I would wear all the time if I could, I don’t really care if this look is in or not really.  So I had to pair the Essentiel  top with my new Maison Scotch bomber, old JBrands and ‘Peter Pilotto for Target‘ skate style schools.  And yes, I did get some odd looks from passers by.

This is a standard going out look for me, top, jeans and heels! These Jimmy Choos are from about 2001 and I love them so much, totally car to bar only 🙂

I don’t get my legs out that that often these days as they are normally bruised from dance class but this top works so well with a simple pencil skirt.  I could’ve dressed it up with a boyfriend blazer and courts but decided to pair with my very old Helmet Lang denim from around 1996.

Prints are everywhere for spring and if you don’t want to go too mad with prints this would be a great investment piece as I just don’t think this pattern or style will really date and as you can (hopefully) see from my pictures it can be worn in so many ways.

Go and check out FORMULA, let me know if you buy anything.  This bracelet might have to make its way into my jewellery box….
