It’s Denim Dedication March over at The Dressing Room which means a month devoted to all things denim! So when The Dressing Room asked me if I would like to review some new JBrands as part of their Denim Dedication month my arm took little twisting to get involved!
I’m a total self confessed denim junky, I just can’t help myself when it comes to denim and my all time favorite brand has to be JBrand. American brands just seem to fit me better around the backside and thigh areas, and JBrand have always been the best fit I’ve found. I have dabbled in other denim but when I want a failsafe jean to make me feel good about myself I will always pull out a pair of JBrands – Rail, Kinsey, Agnes, 801, Maria, Earhart, Houlihan, Aiden... there’s a lot of JBrand love in my wardrobe.
I was sent three very different pairs to try out, and all three were styles I hadn’t tried before, including two using the ‘Photo Ready‘ fabric which is designed to ‘contour the body with amazing stretch and recovering providing a slimming effect’ – how amazing does that sound?!
Jeans – JBrand 620 Photo Ready Mid-Rise Leopard Skinny at The Dressing Room – £275
Top – Maje
Bag – Sophie Hulme
Shoes – Reiss
The first pair I pulled out of the box were the ‘620 Photo Ready Mid-Rise Leopard Skinny’ in Oynx. Grey jeans are everywhere for SS and leopard print isn’t going away so this pair combines both trends. I love a leopard print but I didn’t really think these would be me, until I put them on!! These jeans were some of the lightest in feel I have tried and even though they are very skinny they were so comfortable, it really didn’t feel as if I was wearing anything!
I am wearing a 28 and they are very true to size with a bit of stretch, I would definitely recommend staying with your normal size for a good fit. The slight fading of the leopard print which is all part of the ‘Photo Ready‘ wizardry does make the legs look longer. These have a 30″ length which is slightly shorter than I normally wear in this sort of jean but I prefer this length. I thought I would feel really quite self conscious in these but I loved them, I kinda felt like a rock star! 😉
These jeans are so versatile, great for going out of an evening jean but they would look just as good with a shirt or baggy knit and boots for a more relaxed look. To keep with the cat theme I paired these with a lion print top from Maje and heels.
Chinos – JBrand 1225 Inzez Slim Fit in Sargant at The Dressing Room – £215
Top – The Kooples
Shirt – Topshop
Sneakers – Peter Pilotto for Target
Sunglasses – Sheriff & Cherry
For spring and summer ever girl needs a pair of cool relaxed Chinos in her wardrobe, and the ‘Inzez Chino‘ fit the bill. I have the JBrand Earhart from a few years ago that are basically a similar cut but with cuffed hems and zips, I wish they would re-issue the Earhart! The Inzez are a slim fit chino and I was sent the Sargent green (there’s also a beige-ish colour called Petal) which is so versatile and can be worn with most colours.
Again I’m wearing a 28, and due to the slim cut I would prefer to wear these a little looser so I think I would go up a size, but that’s just me, these were a little tight around my (big) thighs. Again these are nice an light and you can’t go wrong with a good chino style these really are a wardrobe staple and will get years of wear. Chinos are a summer workhorse for me – worn a lot with loose sleeveless blouses and a blazer for work but equally they get worn more relaxed as I have worn them in these pictures.
Jeans – Mid-Rise Photo Ready Skinny Jeans – Impression c/o The Dressing Room – £230
Top – & Other Stories
Shoes – Topshop
Hat – Autograph at M&S (borrowed from Mr B)
Sunglasses – Cutler & Gross for Mulberry
Bracelets – Tokyo Jane c/o The Dressing Room
The final pair (and the pair I decided to keep!) are another made from the Photo Ready fabric but these are a mid-rise ankle skinny (29″ leg) called Impression. Like the 620 these are light but the material is a bit heavier, I didn’t feel naked wearing these! These also felt a little tighter, again I’m wearing a 28 but as always with JBrand stick with your normal size as the material with give just enough. I don’t have any really skinny jeans that are cut to the ankle, and as it was warm I got a bit excited about showing off some ankle flesh!
The wash is a dark blue but with the Photo Ready fading they look almost greyish in some lights, that could just be my eyes, either way I just love this wash. I don’t know if it’s the Photo Ready fabric, the wash or the cut with the shorter leg but these are my new favourite jean, they are just perfect!!
JBrand are a premium denim and the price tag is quite high but the quality and fit is worth paying that bit extra for. Any pair of JBrands will last you years, they wash so well so trust me once you try a pair and find the right JBrand fit for you, your wardrobe (and backside!) will thank you for it.
