JBrand Denim Dedication The Dressing Room

The guys over at  The Dressing Room are having a month of Denim Dedication and as a self confessed denim junky they asked me to get involved and I jumped at the chance of a denim fix. The Dressing Room stock loads of cool denim including J Brand, Hudson, Paige, Current/Elliott and 7 for All Mankind so I would’ve been more than happy to play dress up with any of those brands but a box of J Brand heaven arrived – YAY!

If you read my blog, follow me on twitter or know me you will know that I live in denim, just about all the time.  I’ve no idea what I would wear if jeans didn’t exist.  I am really lucky to work in an office where denim is allowed (no rips though) on a daily basis and recently I have started to sneak some denim into my smarter ‘client friendly’ meeting outfits.  So I thought I would play around with some ‘office friendly’ denim looks and trust me, good denim, especially  J Brand looks so much better than your basic black trouser !

The Maria is a J Brand classic, a high rise super skinny jean.  I have grown to love a high rise cut recently and found that these J Brand give you a great shape and there is no ‘gaping’ which I sometimes get around the small of my back.  These jeans are super skinny but have a nice stretch that just hugs and holds you in.  I did try these on after a few Easter eggs but with all J Brand jeans they are true to size so don’t take a size up even if they are a bit snug to start with, the stretch is there for a reason!

I wouldn’t normally go for this sort of colour but these are just gorgeous, this rich shade is called Loganberry and it’s just fab!  These are perfect for client meetings, I paired them with last seasons Isabel Marant print blouse, black heels and my trusty Anya Hindmarch bag – no need for anything else these jeans do all the talking!

Boyfriend jeans are not going away anytime soon and these should be on your want list for the summer.  J Brand do fab ‘Boyfriend’ jeans, I have a pair of super slouchy Aidens that get worn loads but these Caleb are slim cut through the leg while keeping the relaxed shape of a boyfriend cut.  The reason these will be so great for the summer is that they are made from a super lightweight feeling denim with a tiny bit of added stretch.  I find that you sometimes have to actually go down a size or too with some boyfriend cuts but again stay true to size when buying these.

These are in a Dark Vintage wash that will just fade naturally over time and will add even more to the look of these jeans.  These would be worn day to day in the office so I paired these with a Sandro sweater and Nike SB Blazers. The great thing about boyfriends is that once you have found the perfect pair they can be dressed up with heels or worn with a sweater and sneakers, anything goes with these babies!

620 Mid Rise – Hewson

If I had my way every pair of black trousers I see on my commute would just be replaced with these!  These 620 super skinny mid-rise jeans in Hewson (a proper dark black) wash live up to their super skinny name.  This pair of J Brands are well worth the money as they will be worn all year round, dressed up or dressed down they are just a perfect pair of jeans, the sort of jean I would live in.  These were almost my favourite of the four and here they are in an everyday look for me sweater, ankle boots and a scarf, this one is Becksondergaard; take have a peek at the huge selection The Dressing Room have, a girl can never have enough scarves.

If you were paying attention you would’ve noticed a fourth pair in my headline image; these were my favourites (that I got to keep!) and deserve a post all to themselves…

And to finish off I ask you, could you get away with denim in the office and if you can what do you wear?

Ooh I’ve wanted to buy the Marias for ages. must check them out. We have casual Fri so I often wear jeans then. I love my JBrands but a NZ shop called Glassons does a great skinny for curvy gals.

M – try the Maria as the high waist is flattering. I have a shall we say full butt and hips and this fit doest give you any sort of muffin top so you have a nice smooth line, if that makes sense. S x
