It feels like I have lived in layers upon layers of clothes since last September and the one brand that I’ve found is perfect for layering is American Vintage so I was very excited when The Dressing Room sent me a box of essential American Vintage tops to blog about.

The Dressing Room are the UKs biggest stockiest of the french brand who are best known for their amazing super soft tees.  American Vintage, who were setup in 2005, has that laid back, cool American feel to it with a twist of French chic! Have a look on The Dressing Room as they’ve a huge selection of colours to chose from as well as some other really cool pieces like  this print top I currently have my eye on…

As you probably know by now I live in jeans and casual wear so a basic stock of good quality tees – short, long and sleeveless form a big part of my wardrobe and several of those essential tops are American Vintage so I am already a huge fan of the brand.

I was sent such a big selection I didnt really know where to start, so I picked out some of my favorite colors and styles that I would wear for these pictures.  Now as these are tees and the material on them is quite fine they were quite difficult to picture close up for real detail but hopefully these pictures give you a good feel for the brand.

I love this combo so much; the green I wouldn’t normally wear but as soon as I put that green on I loved it.  The green top is a Massachusetts long sleeved style made from super, super soft Supima fine cotton.  I’m wearing a size small but if I was to wear this top not-layered up I would probably go for the next size up for a looser fit.  The petrol blue Jacksonville tee is made from a slightly thicker, cotton and viscose mix and is a really nice baggy fit, I am wearing a medium in these pictures.  The two colours just work together and it almost looks like one top – baseball style.

Hat – NY Knicks Store Madison Square Gardens
Jeans – Current/Elliott last season
Sneakers – Kenzo x Vans sold out

Out of all the tees, I think this combo was my favourite, I really like the Jacksonville tee style  – the loose baggy fit is perfect for warmer days.

This Massachusetts top is perfect for layering with the other tees as the material is extra fine so you have to be comfortable showing a bit of bra or flesh wearing this style alone.  This is a size medium 100% cotton top in a lovely heather grey – you can never have too many grey tops!  I have layered this top with my trusty denim shirt and shorts.

Being an 80s child there’s a still a part of me that wants to be 80s Madonna when I grow up so I can’t resist a bright coloured bra with a light top, if you’re going to show it, just go for it!  I know some don’t like this look and hey I am probably a bit old for it now but who cares, it’s a nice bra!

Here I am in another Jacksonville, I love this pale blue its just so summery! Again this is a medium paired with shorts and a huge Becksondergarrd scarf (I love using these scarfs on the beach as a cover up)  I know I have said it several times but the material is just so soft and I didn’t want to take this one off!

This style is just so versatile I would even pair it with a print skirt for work.  This beautiful Peony Jacksonville is such a gorgeous colour.  The one I am wearing in this picture below is actually a size large, I am a UK size 10 so you can play around with the different sizes depending on the fit you want.
