I love a good browse on Shopbop, fantasy browsing is so much easier than window shopping at times but for some strange reason I’ve never made a purchase until last weekend! I think the thought of getting stung for sales tax when the parcel arrives from the US has been the main reason I’ve never taken the plunge.
Anyway I’d (finally) made my mind up that I REALLY wanted the 3.1 Phillip Lim – Nueva York vest top so I logged onto Matches all intent on splashing the cash and but to my horror they had sold out – typical! So now I was a girl on a mission, I had a hunt around the net and could only find the grey version available on Shopbop so I had to buy it.
3.1 Phillip Lim – Nueva York Muscle Tank $115 (now sold out)
At $115 it was the same price in dollars as it was in pounds which meant it was cheaper costing £77.81 before tax and as a bonus there was no shipping fee as Shopbop are currently offering free international delivery if you spend above $100. So I added the top to my basket, created an account and went to checkout where I was offered the choice of paying tax or risk paying for tax on arrival. Chickening out on playing the import tax lottery I opted to pay for the tax at checkout which was $23 – still making the top cheaper than buying here in the UK. The order was placed on Saturday 4th May and it arrived on Wednesday 8th May – what a great speedy service!
As this top was from the Design Boutique it came with complementary packaging in a nice little black box which is handy for storing bits in. It’s a shame the weather has turned cold again so I think it will be while before I can wear it *sad face*
So Phillip Lim and Shopbop have opened up a whole new shopping option for me which could become quite dangerous!
